Gimpo International Airport (GMP) is located in western Seoul, about 15 kilometers from the city center, and serves as one of South Korea’s main aviation facilities for domestic and short-haul international travel. Before the opening of Incheon International Airport in 2001, Gimpo Airport handled most of Seoul’s international air traffic. Today, it focuses on domestic flights and selected regional international routes.

The airport operates two main passenger terminals: the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal. Both terminals are designed for efficient passenger movement, with clear signage and convenient access to transportation services. Gimpo Airport is known for its proximity to central Seoul, making it one of the most convenient airports for travelers visiting the capital.

Major airlines operating at Gimpo Airport include Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and several low-cost carriers. The airport handles frequent domestic flights connecting Seoul with cities such as Busan and Jeju. International routes include nearby destinations in Japan, China, and Taiwan.

Gimpo Airport continues to modernize its infrastructure and passenger services. Shopping areas, restaurants, lounges, and transportation facilities support both domestic and international travelers. Business travelers appreciate the airport’s location and fast processing times, while leisure travelers benefit from its accessibility.

As an important part of Seoul’s transportation network, Gimpo International Airport remains a key gateway for domestic travel within South Korea and regional international flights across East Asia.
